Barmouth, where the Mountains meet the Sea has been welcoming visitors for over 150 years. The sunsets are amazing if you catch them at the right time. The town is on the west coast of Wales, looking out onto Cardigan Bay, in the southern part of Snowdonia. So if you are looking for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, paddle boarding, kayaking, or just paddling in the sea and building sandcastles then Barmouth is the perfect location for you.

There is a wide range of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants so a day can be spent browsing, dipping in and out of shops with regular coffee stops, and maybe an ice cream on the harbour watching the boats and seagulls. From Barmouth, you can explore slate mines, travel on heritage steam trains, visit castles, enjoy beautiful gardens and learn some history from prehistoric monuments.
This is a favourite spot of mine, and often walk the circular trail from the harbour, taking the little ferry boat across the estuary over to Fairbourne.

I always stop for my favourite sausage and mushroom breakfast sandwich and pot of tea before we head off and fuel up at one of the many cafes available.
Over the water is the little train station where you can buy refreshments and take the mini train, public toilets are available and is a great suntrap in the summer.
My little border terrier Scruff loves the ferry ride across. This service runs in peak and low season depending on weather and sea conditions.

We took the circular walk around the bay and back over the Viaduct. Making sure to leave a donation at the Troll Toll!
